Skill : Ability to install configure and maintain IBM AIX, and Linux server Operating Systems

• Ability to train users in applications and UNIX fundamentals and writing basic documentation
• Ability to troubleshoot common system problems, using all available resources, (vendor support, online documentation), to completion
• Possess a working knowledge and skill with most aspects of UNIX systems administration; for example, system installation and configuration, fundamentals of security, installing third party software
• Possess a solid knowledge of a UNIX-based operating system; for example, understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts (“inode”, “superblock”, etc.)
• Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; for example, can configure NFS, DNS and understands basic routing concepts.
• Ability to write scripts in some administrative language such as Korn/Bourne/C Shell, Perl, Tk.
• Ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs
• Ability to install, configure and manage storage with Veritas Volume Manager and Solstice Disk Suite (Solaris Volume Manager).
• Familiarity with connecting EMC Symmetrix (DMX), Clariion and Sun StorEdge external storage arrays to UNIX, and Linux servers.
• The Engineer must be customer focused and understand the Systems Administration needs of the organization
