BI Worldwide – 6th Sept 2008 – Chennai – UNIX / Windows Administrator

A 58 year old US MNC with revenue of $480 million and branches all over the US and UK, Australia, Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai is recruiting Software Professionals for expansion of their Offshore Development Center in Chennai.
 
Position-1: Senior Unix Administrator
 
 
Location: Chennai
 
Position will function as a member of the UNIX Systems Administration team in the Corporate Technology Department.  The team is responsible for administration of a UNIX server farm consisting of multiple Sun Servers running Solaris.  The team is also responsible for managing the storage area network (SAN) where data is stored, and backup and restore processes for systems and data.  Multiple mission-critical applications are supported, including custom client applications, the corporate ERP system, and web hosting for both corporate web sites and custom client web sites.  The environment is supported on a 7×24 basis and the position does have on-call responsibilities as part of a rotating schedule.
 
Education/Experience
 
    * 5 to 7 years (or more) of Solaris UNIX administration experience.
    * Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent experience.
    * Experience with administration of BEA WebLogic application server platform.
    * Experience with administration of Sun’s SunOne Web Server platform.
    * Experience with the Perl scripting language.
    * Experience with Internet technologies (web servers, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
    * Experience with EMC SANs and supporting software, including Power Path.
    * Experience with Veritas volume and file manager software.
    * Knowledge of Oracle database technology would be considered a plus.
    * Knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP package would be considered a plus.

Position-2:  System Administrator [Windows]

Job Description
 
Support and maintain the Windows server infrastructure.  Install, support and maintain the Windows application servers including:
    * Microsoft Exchange Server
    * VMWare ESX Server
    * File and print services
    * Citrix
    * MS SQL Server
Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches.  Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware and software issues.  
Education/Experience Required   Associates degree and/or MCSE certification
4-6 years related experience
Hands-on experience with Exchange implementation and support.
Hands-on experience with VMWare ESX Server implementation and support.
High level knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory 2003       
Skills & Abilities:
 
Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including Active Directory 2003 and Windows Server 2003
Highly organized and detail oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for communicating technical issues to non-technical personnel
Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
Project management experience desirable
Roles & Responsibilities
(the “deliverables” in the position)    Maintain a high availability secure server environment
Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems
Perform system backups and recovery.  Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity
Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.  Mitigate performance problems.
Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team
